Anthony Jones Memorial Award
2012 AWARD WINNER - LIAM MORGAN
Anthony Jones was a great supporter of Leominster Minors. Two of his children, Lewis and Annabelle, are popular Minors players and Hayley plays with Leominster Town Ladies. After Anthony's death in 2011 the family felt Anthony would like to leave a legacy to the Club. Each year the Club presents the Anthony Jones Memorial Trophy, an award given to a player who has been an inspiration.
In 2011 the inaugeral award was made to George Edmands, then an Under 12's player. This year the award was presented to Liam Morgan from the Under 15's.
Liam contracted septicemia and was seriously ill, spending 4 weeks in hospital. He has had a slow and very painful recovery. He loves his football with Minors and wanted passionately to play again. Very gradually he has been training with the squad and this season has played some part in matches during this seasons successful league campaign. Everyone connected with the team has marvelled at his spirit and bravery.
